Who Wouldn’t Abandon This Shopping Cart?

shopping-cart-abandonment

I was looking for a laptop support today and I found some on IKEA.ca.  Added 3 of them to the cart to ship them to the office.

Surprise! The  $4.99 items came with a shipping fee of $34.55.

Would you buy online from someone who’s charging that much? Hell, no!

shopping cart on ikea canada, with whopping shipping fees

$4.99 for the product , $34.99 for shipping? I’m out, IKEA!

Ha ha. I would and have abandoned it. Here’s looking at you Local Celebrity (tees are about $30, shipping to Japan about $50) and Pixmedia.

Estimated delivery is also poor wording. Does that mean the price will change when you get to the checkout?

While this is a design problem to be sure, its more of a complete WTF that shipping is so expensive here. I’m not sure why a big company like Ikea can’t get volume discounts and use that to make its prices competitive here overall.
