How to Search for Canadian Prescription Drugs Under Google’s New Online Pharmacy Policy

If you are a person who lives in the States and uses search engines such as Google or Yahoo to search for cheaper prescription drugs from Canada, you might already realize that, started earlier this week, you are no longer able to see any Canadian pharmacies advertising on Google thru Pay Per Click advertising (sponsored links).

That’s right! Google has updated its policy regarding online pharmacies advertising using AdWords. In essence, this is what Google had announced on February 9th, 2010:

There are two main aspects to this change:

Only VIPPS and CIPA certified pharmacies will be allowed to advertise
We’ve made the … Continue Reading » How to Search for Canadian Prescription Drugs Under Google’s New Online Pharmacy Policy

Google’s New Trademark Policy: How Beneficial is it?

As most of you might already know, effective June 15th of this year, Google is starting to allow the use of trademark terms in the ad text. Every time an advertiser submits his ads that contain a trademark term, the ads will be “under review” before it can start showing. The review process basically exams whether the advertisers meet the criteria to use trademark terms in their ad texts.

For the list of criteria, visit here.

Oh, and did I mention that the review process can take up to a week or more? It is a very long time in a … Continue Reading » Google’s New Trademark Policy: How Beneficial is it?

Is Google Quality Score Taking Away Strategic Bidding?

I play the guitar during my free time (that’s right, not all search marketers are nerds). Okay, back to the article.

Recently, I have been searching online trying to find the best price on a particular guitar effect pedal that I am trying to get. I had been through all the sponsored ads and eBay listing and came to realize that everyone is selling it at the same price. Maybe the manufacture had set the retail price, or there is an agreement between all the retailers, the fact remains that not a single one of them has any competitive edge over … Continue Reading » Is Google Quality Score Taking Away Strategic Bidding?

Google Analytics – Keyword Positions

One of the biggest questions advertisers have when manage their pay per click account is how much they should bid for their keywords. Bidding too high may incur too much cost and advertisers might not be able to sustain a profitable ROI, whether bidding too low might not allow their ads to be positioned at a visible spot.

There is a report in Google Analytics that allows advertisers to see at which positions their keywords receive the most visits, transactions, revenue, conversion rate, and etc.

Simply login into Google Analytics, select a report which has the proper filters applied. Then click on … Continue Reading » Google Analytics – Keyword Positions

Pay Per Click Payment Options

Pay Per Click Payment Options

When managing the funds of your pay-per-click campaigns, there are two ways to go about it. Advertisers can either choose to make a deposit first and have the system (Google, Yahoo, or MSN) makes a deduction from the prepaid balance until the funds runs dry, or they can choose to pay the outstanding charges at the end of the billing cycle. Analogically speaking, it’s almost like “prepaid airtime” vs. “pay-at-the-end-of-the-month” for your cell phones.

Some search engines accept both methods and some only accept a particular method, and each search engines have their own minor variations on … Continue Reading » Pay Per Click Payment Options

PPC Targeting Options

Google’s behavioural targeting has become a popular topic these days, and Yahoo has just recently added “Demographic Bidding”. But before we get familiar with the new, let’s review the old. I’ve put together a table of basic targeting options offered by the three major search engines (Google, Yahoo, and MSN).

All the information is gathered from each search engine’s help page.

Google
Yahoo!
MSN

Location Targeting Allows advertisers to target a specific geographical area, or a combination of areas. Their ads would only show up at the locations they target…. Continue Reading » PPC Targeting Options

Was Google Chrome Launch Date Randomly Chosen?

Google launched his own web browser a couple of days ago (September 1st,2008). Firefox 3 was launched not even a couple of months earlier.

Is Chorme’s launch a simple coincidence? Is is the launch date random? I tend not to believe so.

As Internet Explorer owns almost 85% of the browsers market and Firefox around 10%, Google’s move is intended to irritate Microsoft. But this will come with a cost. The release date was chosen very close to the release of Firefox for a very simple reason: Firefox 3 is full of bugs and it’s crashing at least once per day. Firefox … Continue Reading » Was Google Chrome Launch Date Randomly Chosen?

Google’s Browser, Chrome Launched To Kick MSFT’s Ass

Ok. The two years old rumors are true: Google’s Chrome, the minimal web browser from Google went on market, September 1st 2008.

I will not discuss the functionality of the browser, but I will take a quick look at the number of incoming links for the browser’s home page, Google’s Chrome Page Rang and keep records of rankings for the following keywords: chrome, web browser and browser. Let’s see how a giant like Google, can outrank other browsers pages(if this will happen)

I’ll keep updating this post daily, for a week and then, weekly.
