Recently, I have noticed an update to Google AdWords’ reporting options: Ad Group Performance, Campaign Performance and Account Performance report can no longer be run from the Report tab.
As you can see from the image, those three options are now greyed out. So how do we run those reports now?
It’s actually quite simple, and more convenient, in my opinion. Just click on the Dimensions tab (if you don’t see it, just click on the drop-down arrow besides the Network tab and choose Dimensions).
Once you are there, you can basically run those three reports there. You can choose to segment your report by the unit of Day of Week, Day, Week, Month, Quarter, Year, Hour of Day, and Destination URL as you would’ve done with the old report, and you can also add and take out columns.
To run Account Performance report, just select Ad Group from Level of Detail; and to run Campaign Performance Report, just select Campaign. If you want to run Account Performance report, just don’t select anything from that field.
And of course, the report can still be downloaded to the usual format (csv, etc) and e-mailed to preferred e-email address on preferred schedule.
What’s Google’s reasoning for making this update? I’m not really sure, but it definitely makes running basic reports more accessible.
