As a follow-up to the post AdWords Tips and Secrets #1, I will share three important tips which could help you improve the AdWords account performance.
AdWords Tip 2
Google AdWords uses the ad display URL’s historical click through rate as one of the metrics in calculating the Quality Score. By display URL Google means, usually, the domain name of your web site. If you have poorly performing ads, then it’s going to impact the display URL click through rate. If your affiliates are using your domain name in their ads’ display URL, that also is factored in computing the Quality Score. If the affiliates have poorly performing ads with low click through rate, that is going to impact the Quality Score of your account, as well as both share the same display URL.
If the domain name belonged to someone else and
* if they used Google AdWords to promote products/services
* if they parked the domain and used Google AdWords,
the historical click through rate data of the domain name from the above mentioned scenarios are also considered by Google AdWords to calculate the Quality Score.
AdWords Tip 3
Remember to create the Google AdWords account and choose the option to also show your ads on Google partner websites. If you don’t understand what I am talking about, here is how it looks.
We have found that Google search partners doesn’t drive quality traffic that converts on the web site. With the help of an analytics tool you can verify if selecting this option actually drives costs more or does it generate conversions. I don’t know of any way to find the search partners specifically in Google Analytics.
To opt out, you need to select the campaign you want to edit. Then choose “Edit Campaign Settings” and unselect the option and save some $$$.
AdWords Tip #4
Google AdWords gives users the choice to display the ad title in six formats, when using dynamic keyword insertion option. All you need to do is type the word “keyword” according to one of the below formats.
